Description

The massive shift towards remote working in early 2020, driven by the pandemic, introduced workers, businesses, and policymakers to a new and diverse landscape. Different remote working arrangements (RWAs) were applied in various real-life settings, offering significant benefits but also posing substantial challenges.

R-Map takes a comprehensive approach to understanding and addressing the impacts of RWAs across Europe. By acknowledging the unique needs and circumstances of both urban and rural areas, R-Map aims to develop a nuanced understanding of how remote work affects society, the economy, and spatial dynamics. Through meticulous analysis and stakeholder engagement, the project uncovers the complex urban-regional dynamics at play and identifies tailored policy measures to maximize the benefits of remote work while mitigating its challenges.

The project also directly incorporates the perspectives of remote workers through the Remote Workers Worldwide community, ensuring their habits and needs are embedded in action plans designed to capitalize on remote work opportunities in six European cities, while fostering dialogue with employers and urban and regional authorities across Europe.

Q-PLAN responsibilities

  • Diagnosis and comparative analysis of present situation with respect to remote work and its impacts in 6 European cities
  • Foresight study on the potential future impacts of remote working arrangements on urban-rural areas
