Kicking Off ORBIS: Advancing AI-Powered Maritime Border Surveillance in Europe!

The Horizon Europe project ORBIS (Optimized Real-time maritime Border Surveillance with Intelligent satellite-drone Systems) officially set sail with its Kick-off Meeting on October 7–8, 2025, in Athens, Greece, hosted by ACCELIGENCE, the Project Coordinator.
With a €1.5 million budget over 24 months, ORBIS brings together high-tech SMEs, research centres, and end-user organisations from the fields of maritime operations, artificial intelligence, UAVs, and Earth Observation. The project will integrate satellite constellations, autonomous UAVs, and AI-based analytics to deliver secure, real-time monitoring and faster search and rescue operations across vast maritime areas, strengthening Europe’s capacity for civil security and situational awareness.
Q-PLAN International, as the leader of Dissemination, Communication, Exploitation, and Business Modelling, Planning, and Synergy activities, will ensure that ORBIS results reach the right stakeholders, maximising visibility, impact, and adoption, while also supporting investor readiness to ensure the project’s long-term sustainability.
Stay tuned as ORBIS pioneers the future of intelligent, cooperative, and resilient maritime security!
