2D-BioPAD at Graphene Week 2026

For the third year in a row, Q-PLAN participated in Graphene Week as part of the 2D-BioPAD project. Graphene Week is one of Europe’s leading annual events on graphene and other two-dimensional (2D) materials.

This year, the event took place in Porto, Portugal, from 21 to 25 September 2026, bringing together more than 500 researchers, industry experts, engineers, and innovators from around the world.

Representing Q-PLAN, Aristotelis Folas participated in the EU Funding Matchmaking sessions, which provided an opportunity to engage with organisations interested in future European research and innovation collaborations. Q-PLAN contributed to discussions across three key topics: energy systems and climate transition technologies; materials for sustainable industry and the circular economy; and digital, AI, and emerging technologies. The sessions enabled participants to exchange ideas, identify complementary expertise, and explore potential collaborations for future EU-funded proposals.

For 2D-BioPAD, a key highlight was the joint workshop organised once again with its synergy project MUNASET, titled “Biomedical Applications.” The workshop focused on how graphene and other advanced materials can support new healthcare technologies. In particular, the session presented developments in biosensors, bioelectronics, and diagnostic platforms and showed how these technologies can contribute to more precise and innovative healthcare solutions.

Through its participation in Graphene Week 2026, 2D-BioPAD continued to connect with the graphene community, share its work, and raise awareness of its goal; making early diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease more accessible to everyone.
