It’s a Wrap! The 4th SKILLBILL Plenary Meeting Sets the Stage for Future Green Jobs and Skills

Over the past two years, SKILLBILL and Q-PLAN has brought together a community working at the intersection of renewable energy, education, and innovation. Designed to align professional upskilling with the needs of a net-zero economy, the project has delivered collaborative spaces where policy, market, and education stakeholders can co-create impactful strategies with its four Working Groups on Sustainable Mobility, Heat, Electricity and Fuels.

On Monday, May 19th 2025 our 4th SKILLBILL Working Group Plenary Meeting was held (online), bringing together the experts of all 4 Working Groups, marking a pivotal moment in this shared journey.

The Background

SKILLBILL was born from a clear mission: to identify and bridge the skills gaps in Europe’s green transition. Since 2023, we’ve launched a Joint Stakeholder Initiative that is comprised of four sector-focused Working Groups (Electricity, Heat, Fuels, Mobility), we’ve hosted three collaborative meetings, and we’ve translated key insights into emerging job profiles, cross-sectoral skills, and workforce development strategies.

The 4th Plenary Meeting – A Moment of Reflection and Vision

The 4th Plenary was more than just a milestone—it was a dynamic space for reflection, exchange, and future planning. Together, we:

✅ Reviewed key outcomes from all four Working Groups
✅ Translated knowledge needed into future skills
✅ Mapped future job roles and emerging skills in the green energy sector
Participants also had the opportunity to come together and cross-fertilise ideas among all four sectors

What’s Next?

On June 26th, 2024, SKILLBILL will host its Sustainable Futures Conference   in Brussels, titled:
“Renewable Energy & Bio-based Innovation for a Greener Europe”. This highly valued gathering will bring together policymakers, education experts, and green economy towards a sustainable and resilient bioeconomy & renewable energy acceleration. We also encourage all participants to continue networking through the SKILLBILL Working Groups, which remain active for collaboration, knowledge sharing, and matchmaking.

Thank you to all partners, participants, and contributors who made this plenary a success. The work doesn’t stop here—together, we’re building the skills for tomorrow’s green transformation.
